A text QR code stores the message itself as character data. It does not call a server or resolve a short link, so the decoded information remains available when the device has no mobile data or WiFi connection.

Keep a text QR readable without making it unnecessarily dense

Plain text is stored directly in the QR code. Unlike a web link, every extra character becomes part of the symbol, so message length, language and punctuation directly affect module count and the physical size required for dependable scanning.

Edit for density before styling

Shorten repeated instructions and remove decorative punctuation. Accented characters, emoji and non-Latin scripts are valid, but their UTF-8 representation can use more bytes and produce a denser pattern.

Prioritize black-or-dark on light

Use a solid light background with a clearly darker module color. Avoid low-contrast pastels, busy photographs behind the code and color combinations that become similar when printed in grayscale.

Use logos sparingly on long messages

A central logo removes readable modules. If the text already creates a dense code, omit the logo or keep it very small; if you add one, increase error correction and re-test because the higher level also adds density.

Scale the output to the payload

Maintain a quiet zone of at least four modules around the code. A long text payload needs a larger printed area than a short identifier, and a poster needs larger modules than a label scanned at arm's length.

Verify exact characters offline

Test the final exported file and a real print with airplane mode enabled. Compare line breaks, symbols, capitalization and multilingual characters with the source text rather than stopping when the camera recognizes a QR code.
