Bring customers to the right account without searching
Instead of asking customers to type in their account names themselves, you can place QR codes on menus, packaging, posters or business cards. When they scan, they'll be taken straight to the exact content you want to share.
No more finding the wrong account
Customers open your correct page or channel, even if the account name is hard to remember or there are multiple similar accounts.
Easy to use on any publication
A small QR code can connect your menu, packaging, poster, sales counter or event materials to your social network.
Links can be changed when needed
If you use dynamic QR codes, you can change the destination link or track scans without having to reprint the code.
Inside the QR code
Should a QR code open a personal page or a specific post?
Social network QR codes actually contain a link. It's especially useful for long URLs, account names that are difficult to remember, or that contain dots, underscores, and numbers: users can simply scan instead of typing each character and then choosing between many similar results. However, the longer the link, the thicker the code, so you need to choose the right type of link from the beginning.
Use personal page or channel links for long-term content
If QR codes are printed on packaging, menus, signs or business cards, prioritize linking to your personal page, business page or main channel. These links are often stable and remain useful after a campaign ends.
Use post, video or event links for short campaigns
When you want to promote a specific video, show or event, lead straight to that content. After the campaign ends, you need to check back because the post may be deleted, view rights changed or no longer suitable.
Check the link without logging in
A link can be opened normally with an administrator account but requires the guest to log in or reports no access rights. Try using an incognito window and on a phone without social media apps installed.
Prioritize official links, remove unnecessary tracking
Links copied from Share buttons sometimes include many long parameters. If a shorter profile, channel, or official content link still opens in the right place, use that link so the code has fewer boxes and is easier to print smaller.
Distinguish between static and dynamic codes before printing
The static code opens the social network link directly and does not depend on the redirection service, but cannot be changed after printing. Dynamic code often contains shorter links, can change destinations and measure scans, in return it requires Internet and redirection services to continue working.
For example, choose the appropriate link
Goal: help visitors follow your Instagram account long term — https://instagram.com/acme.studio — Phones with Instagram will open their profile in the app. If the application has not been installed, users can still view the public page using the browser.
Check before publishing
- Open the link in an incognito window to make sure people who aren't logged in can still see it.
- Don't use links from your admin page, ad preview page, or links that only work with your account.
- If accounts, posts, or platforms can be changed after printing, use dynamic QR codes.
- If the shared link is too long, find the profile link or the platform's standard link; Do not manually delete the parameters if you have not tried opening the link after shortening it.
- If the scan code is correct but the page reports an error, check to see if the content has been removed, renamed, made private, age-restricted, regionally restricted, or required to sign in.
7 notes to make social network QR codes easy to scan and error-free when printed
A beautiful QR code can still be difficult to scan if the link is too long, the color is too light, the logo is too large, or the code is placed close to the background. Optimize links, design and content lifecycle before printing.
The shorter the link, the easier the QR code is to scan
Long links create many smaller cells and make the QR code thicker. Please use the official link of the page or channel, and remove unnecessary tracking if the shortened link still opens the correct content.
Use dark color codes on light backgrounds
You can use brand colors, but the code color must be dark enough compared to the background. Avoid light colors, transparent backgrounds, or placing code directly on detailed images.
The logo is small and does not cover the three squares in the corner
The logo should be placed in the middle with a moderate size. Do not cover the three large squares in the corners because the phone relies on them to recognize and read the QR code.
Leave space around the QR code
Do not place text, frames or images close to the code. The surrounding white space should be at least as wide as four small boxes of the code for faster recognition by the camera.
Test print and scan with multiple phones
Try the final file on iPhone and Android, both with and without social networking apps installed. If the code is used on a poster or sign, it needs to be checked at the correct distance the user will be standing.
Clearly state what the scan is for
Add a specific call-out like “Follow the channel,” “Watch video tutorials,” or “Message us.” Placing only social media icons may cause users to not know which page the code will open.
Recheck the link during use
Account names may change, posts may be deleted, and invitation links may expire. For long-lasting posters or packaging, schedule regular scans or use dynamic code to change the destination.
Features
Features
Customize with brand colors
You can change the color, QR box style, frame, and add a logo. All changes are previewed right on the screen.
Download the appropriate file for printing
Use PNG for general needs; Choose SVG or EPS when you need sharp printing on signs, packaging or large formats.
Choose size according to location of use
The code placed on a business card can be smaller than the code on a poster or sign. Choose a size that makes it convenient for viewers to scan at a practical distance.
Keep QR codes easy to scan
Code with good contrast, clear white space, and not too much obscured by the logo will work more reliably on many phones.
Preview before downloading
Check the content and appearance of the QR code right in the generator before exporting the final file.
Choose static or dynamic code
Use static code when the link does not change. Use dynamic code if you want to change the link after printing or need to track scans.
