What is stored in a Swiss QR-bill payment symbol?

Swiss Payments Standards define a line-based SPC payload. Swiss QR-bill replaced the former red and orange payment slips after their processing ended on 30 September 2022. A compliant QR-bill also includes a formatted payment part and receipt; this generator creates the Swiss QR code data and symbol, not a complete print-ready invoice.

Structured creditor addresses are required

Since 22 November 2025, structured addresses are mandatory: street, building number, postal code, city and ISO country code occupy defined fields.

QR-IBAN requires QRR

A QR-IBAN uses the IID range 30000–31999 and must be paired with a valid 27-digit QR reference in CHF.

Normal IBAN supports SCOR or NON

Use a valid ISO 11649 RF reference for SCOR, or no structured reference for NON.

The code is only one part of the bill

For formal invoicing, generate the complete payment part and receipt with prescribed dimensions, text and perforation markers.

  • Use a valid CH or LI IBAN.
  • Match QRR only with a QR-IBAN and valid 27-digit reference.
  • Match SCOR with a valid RF reference and normal IBAN.
  • Complete all structured address fields.

  • For an invoice, place the code in a compliant QR-bill payment part.

Checks to make before publishing a Swiss QR-bill code

The reference and IBAN relationship is the most common source of invalid Swiss QR-bill data.

Identify IBAN type first

Ask the financial institution whether the account is a normal IBAN or QR-IBAN.

Use the matching reference

QRR, SCOR and NON are not interchangeable.

Provide a structured address

Keep street and building number in their separate fields.

Do not restyle the symbol

Retain black modules, white background, quiet zone and Swiss cross.

No. It creates the Swiss QR code payload and symbol. A full bill also needs the regulated payment-part and receipt layout.
