Why use PayNow / SGQR instead of asking the payer to type everything?
A PayNow QR prevents customers from retyping a mobile number or UEN and can prepare the SGD amount. Their banking app still resolves the registered proxy and shows the recipient before authorization.
Reduce proxy entry mistakes
Scan an eight-digit mobile proxy or business UEN instead of typing it.
Prepare the SGD value
A fixed amount helps at counters and on invoices.
Add a payment reference
Carry a short order reference for the payer and recipient.
Inside the QR code
What is stored in a PayNow / SGQR payment symbol?
PayNow data is embedded in an EMVCo merchant-presented SGQR structure with the GUI SG.PAYNOW. The proxy type identifies a mobile number or UEN.
The proxy must already be registered
A valid number or UEN is not enough; it must be linked through a participating bank or non-bank financial institution.
Mobile numbers are normalized
An eight-digit Singapore number beginning 8 or 9 is encoded with the +65 country code.
UEN identifies a business
Use the exact 9- or 10-character UEN registered for PayNow Corporate.
Amount editability is declared
The payload tells the app whether the payer is expected to enter an amount or use the prepared SGD value.
CRC detects payload changes
The checksum protects structure, not account ownership.
PayNow payload example
Mobile 91234567 · SGD 25.00 · ORDER-1042 — 00020101021226...0009SG.PAYNOW...5303702540525.00...6304 — A compatible Singapore banking app resolves the PayNow proxy and displays the transfer.
Check before publishing
- Use a Singapore mobile beginning with 8 or 9.
- Confirm the proxy is registered for PayNow.
- For UEN, copy the exact registered identifier.
- Use an expiry date only for a UEN payload.
- Keep the reference short.
- Verify the recipient name in the banking app.
Checks to make before publishing a PayNow / SGQR code
Test the proxy resolution and make the intended recipient visible next to public payment signs.
Choose personal or corporate proxy
Use mobile for an eligible personal registration and UEN for PayNow Corporate.
Check registration in the bank app
Do not infer registration from number format.
Decide whether amount is editable
Omit it for a reusable code or prepare it for one price.
Use a useful reference
Add an order or invoice label that the recipient can recognize.
Test before display
Confirm resolved recipient and SGD amount in a participating app.

Scheme-specific validation
Account identifiers, amount formats, references and field lengths are checked for the selected payment standard.
Generated locally
The payment payload and barcode are created in the browser; the generator does not move money or register an account.
PNG and SVG exports
Download a raster image for everyday use or a scalable vector for invoices and high-quality print.
Protected fixed formats
Standards with prescribed rendering disable incompatible color, logo, shape and error-correction controls.
Optional payment context
Where the scheme permits it, prepare an amount, reference, due date or message to reduce payer entry.
