Why use HUB-3 PDF417 instead of asking the payer to type everything?

Croatian payment slips contain many fields and a long model/reference pair. HUB-3 places them in a PDF417 barcode so compatible mobile banking can populate the payment form.

Use the correct barcode family

The generator renders PDF417 with the HUB-defined data structure instead of incorrectly placing HUB-3 text in a QR.

Carry payer and recipient data

Names, addresses, account, amount and purpose travel together.

Preserve Croatian reference fields

Model and reference are encoded in their dedicated positions.

Inside the QR code

What is stored in a HUB-3 PDF417 payment symbol?

HUB-3 begins HRVHUB30 and contains 14 UTF-8 lines. The official symbol is PDF417 with defined column, error-correction and module proportions.

The first two lines are HRVHUB30 and EUR

They identify the format and currency.

Amount is 15 digits of euro cents

EUR 123.55 becomes a zero-padded integer value without a decimal separator.

Payer fields may be blank

Recipient, IBAN and amount remain essential for a useful payment instruction.

Model and reference are separate

Use an HR model such as HR00 and the matching reference from the invoice.

The symbol is PDF417

Official guidance uses nine columns, error-correction level 4 and a 3:1 module ratio, with a practical maximum size of 58 by 26 mm.

HUB-3 payload example

HR IBAN · EUR 123.55 · HR00 reference — HRVHUB30\nEUR\n000000000012355\n...\nHR1210010051863000160\nHR00\n... — A compatible Croatian banking app reads a PDF417 payment slip.

Check before publishing

  • Do not expect a QR-only scanner to recognize PDF417.
  • Use a valid Croatian HR IBAN.
  • Copy model and reference as separate fields.
  • Keep every name and address within its field limit.
  • Print with sufficient width and module height.
  • Test with a Croatian mobile-banking payment-slip scanner.

Checks to make before publishing a HUB-3 PDF417 code

HUB-3 scanning depends heavily on correct PDF417 geometry, so decorative QR styling is intentionally unavailable.

Use payment-slip source data

Copy the current payer, recipient and reference fields.

Check euro cents

Compare the decimal amount shown by the app with the invoice.

Keep PDF417 proportions

Do not stretch the downloaded image independently in width or height.

Leave a clear border

Keep nearby text and lines away from the barcode.

Test the final printed document

A screen preview does not prove a small or low-quality print will scan.

Features

Features

Scheme-specific validation

Account identifiers, amount formats, references and field lengths are checked for the selected payment standard.

Generated locally

The payment payload and barcode are created in the browser; the generator does not move money or register an account.

PNG and SVG exports

Download a raster image for everyday use or a scalable vector for invoices and high-quality print.

Protected fixed formats

Standards with prescribed rendering disable incompatible color, logo, shape and error-correction controls.

Optional payment context

Where the scheme permits it, prepare an amount, reference, due date or message to reduce payer entry.

Verification remains visible

The workflow reminds the payer to compare the beneficiary and amount in a compatible banking app.
